We are recruiting Refuse and Cleansing Operatives at Caerphilly County Borough Council.

This position offers an excellent opportunity to become part of our team and provide support across the organisation.

We pay an attractive salary of £25,949 - £25,989 and offer access to training and development opportunities.

The purpose of the role is to provide an effective and efficient household recycling centres (HRC) street cleansing/waste collection service for the County Borough primarily based working on either street cleansing or Household Recycling Centres.

Cleansing duties would include the removal of waste, detritus and bulky items from pedestrian areas, grass verges, parks, roads, pavements, wasteland, houses and public properties. It can also include street washing, undertaking yardman duties, etc.

Staff would also be utilised to support front line collection services during peak periods as and when required. The HRC role will include assisting residents with their waste disposals, customer service aspects such as resident checks, advising, directing and assisting members of the public with the use of the facilities including unloading heavy/bulky items from vehicles. Segregating materials to optimise recycling and keeping sites clean and free from any hazards.

For the role, we ask that you have:

  • Knowledge of the County Borough and the services provided by the Waste Strategy and Operations section.
  • No recognised qualification but must be able to undertake the full range of duties provided by Waste Strategy and Operations in an efficient and effective manner.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours including weekends, additional hours and differing shift patterns.
