We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated individual as a Quick Response Team Operative, to work in the property team. The role is career graded with accountabilities at Grade 3 being carried out under the close supervision and development of the Quick Response Team Senior Operative and at Grade 4 the accountabilities are to be carried out with regular supervision of outcomes and support for unusual, complex or politically sensitive tasks.

The quick response team operative role is to carry out a variety of engineering work across the district of Harborough including, maintenance work to watercourses involving grass cutting, hedge clearance works, minor tree works and felling of trees. To carry out maintenance works to car parks, public open spaces and recreational areas and maintain street name plates and other street furniture as required.

Completing general building maintenance work at council offices, outreach offices and other council owned assets forms an important part of the role.

The Council maintains a number of Churchyards and Cemeteries, part of the maintenance includes the safety inspections and assessment of memorials in burial grounds and the fixing of monoliths and lawn type memorials as per the memorial testing programme. To record findings and establish repairs to be carried out or make safe as per the relevant procedure.

The post holder will have the ability to provide cost-effective quotes for labour and materials for projects spanning various service areas within the Council, be able to analyse, plan and organise projects, including liaising with suppliers for quotations and ordering, liaising with relevant service area and informing the public of projects being carried out.

The successful candidate will have the relevant engineering background (e.g. building / construction / property) or able to demonstrate equivalent aptitude. You will have previous experience in a similar role and have a good understanding and health & safety knowledge of working in an engineering environment, you will hold the NRSWA operative qualification.

Having a flexible approach to your work, being able to organise and carry out planned and reactive maintenance tasks to a high standard are a requirement of the successful candidate and there should be a willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends and to undertake paid call out responsibilities on a rota basis as required.

A full driving licence is a requirement for the post.
