You will be reporting to the Principal Teacher of Support for Learning and Inclusion
Your working pattern is 35 hours per week split between office based and classroom/establishment work. We are happy to talk flexible working, where possible.
This is an exciting opportunity to join the central Support for Learning and Inclusion team based at Keelylang Centre.
The team works across all Orkney schools and settings to support the learning and inclusion of young people with a diverse range of additional and often overlapping needs including, but not limited to, neurodiversity, trauma, anxiety, experience of the care system, physical barriers to learning etc.
Colleagues within the current team are skilled in areas such as neurodiversity, communication, and inclusion, and the team also includes Teachers of the Deaf, and Vision Support. You will be working in close partnership with school and nursery colleagues on assessment, learning and teaching, staff training, and to promote inclusion, nurture, and meeting needs.
The role includes the identification and assessment of learners’ needs; the planning of learning and teaching (including cooperative or team teaching); consultation; working in partnership with specialist services; and contributing to or leading staff training and professional development. While based at the Keelylang Centre in Kirkwall, you will work across the full range of Orkney schools and settings, including Isles schools and nurseries. Salary will be based on the Main Grade Teacher SNCT Salary Table plus Distant Islands Allowance.

This post is a regulated role with children and requires Level 2 Disclosure with PVG scheme membership.
