Make a Difference in Lancaster
Join us as a Public Realm Maintenance Operative and play a vital role in keeping Lancaster’s streets, parks, and public spaces clean, safe, and welcoming. Your work will directly support our ambition for Clean, Green, and Safe Neighbourhoods, enhancing the environment for residents and visitors alike.

What You’ll Be Doing
You’ll be hands-on with a variety of tasks including grass cutting, litter and graffiti removal, leaf clearance, and maintaining playgrounds and bedding areas. Operating mechanical sweepers and vehicles up to 7.5 tonnes, you’ll ensure public spaces are tidy and well cared for. You’ll also assist with event setups, support community volunteers, and help maintain safety through seasonal gritting and spill clearance.

You’ll Fit Right In If…
You hold a full, clean driving licence and are keen to learn to operate specialist equipment. You’re reliable, work well independently and as part of a team, and take pride in delivering high standards. Your good communication skills and commitment to health and safety reflect our values of Working Together, Ambition, Pride, and Ownership. You’re physically fit and ready to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
