Help turn ambition into successful project delivery

We are looking for a highly effective Project Manager to join our Health and Employability Team, helping turn strategic ambition into successful delivery across the North East Mayoral Strategic Authority.

This is an opportunity to contribute to making the North East the Home of Real Opportunity by leading high-profile, complex projects that make a tangible difference to residents and communities. You will bring together partners, manage competing priorities and ensure that projects achieve their objectives, budgets and timescales.

The Role
As Project Manager, you will lead projects through the full lifecycle, from initiation to completion. You will develop robust plans, establish clear governance, coordinate project teams and chair meetings, ensuring that the right people are involved at the right time. You will manage risks, resources and budgets, negotiate cost-effective solutions and provide clear, timely updates to senior management. Working with delivery organisations, employers and stakeholders, you will support service planning and translate local and national policy into effective delivery.

About You
You will bring experience of managing complex projects and working collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders. You will be a confident communicator and influencer, with the organisational skills to maintain momentum across multiple workstreams. You will be committed to equality, diversity and inclusion and to delivering positive outcomes across the North East.

We're looking for someone who can:
  • Plan and deliver projects against agreed objectives, budgets and timescales.
  • Establish effective governance, manage risks and coordinate project teams.
  • Build productive relationships with delivery partners and stakeholders.
  • Provide clear reports, updates and advice to senior management.
  • Translate strategic priorities into practical, inclusive project delivery. What it Isn't
This is not simply a project administration or reporting role. You will need to lead conversations, bring partners together, resolve challenges and take responsibility for progressing delivery. The role involves regular in-person meetings with delivery organisations, employers and other external stakeholders; a driving licence would be advantageous.

So, if you...
  • Enjoy taking ownership of complex projects and seeing them through.
  • Can balance detailed planning with collaborative, practical delivery.
  • Are confident engaging partners and managing competing priorities.
Want to make a real difference to residents and communities across the North East....we'd love to hear from you.

We are proud to be an inclusive employer, and we welcome applications from people of all backgrounds, communities and experiences. We support flexible working and encourage applications from candidates who are under-represented including women, disabled people, LGBTQ+ people and those from Black, Asian and minority ethnic backgrounds.

If you would like an informal discussion, or further information about this role please contact Julie Gwillym, Programme Manager, julie.gwillym@northeast-ca.gov.uk

Closing date for applications: Sunday 22nd November 2026 at 23:59
