Procurement Support Apprentice (Procurement and Supply Assistant Level 3 Apprenticeship)
We have an excellent opportunity for a Procurement and Supply Assistant Apprentice to join our team at Wokingham Borough Council on a full-time, 18-month fixed-term contract.
As a Procurement Support Apprentice, you will play a key role in supporting the Procurement and Contracts team. This role will involve assisting with the procurement of goods, works and services, supporting contract management, and ensuring compliance with procurement policies and procedures. You will help maintain accurate records, liaise with suppliers, and contribute to the delivery of value for money across the Council’s procurement activities.
You will check information is correct and ensure procurement processes are followed in line with the Council’s policy and relevant legislation.
Apprenticeship
The successful candidate will undertake the Level 3 Procurement and Supply Assistant apprenticeship delivered by Oxford Professional Education.
You will need to be confident using Microsoft Office and willing to learn new procurement systems. You should be an excellent communicator, self-motivated with a positive outlook, and have strong attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with the procurement of goods, services, and works in accordance with the Council’s procurement policies and procedures.
- Assist in maintaining accurate procurement records, ensuring the Council meets its statutory duties relation to transparency obligations in the Procurement Act.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues, suppliers, and stakeholders in clear and professional language.
- Proactively provide advice to service areas in delivering the Council’s Procurement pipeline and make recommendations to enhance procurement processes and value for money.
- Ensure procurement activities are completed accurately and in a timely manner, providing advice and guidance as required.
- Maintain a good understanding of procurement legislation and applicable guidelines.
Candidate Requirements:
- Excellent literacy and numeracy skills.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and Teams.
- Ability to communicate well with others, both in person and in writing.
- Ability to study and learn from a training programme.
- Experience of working with suppliers or in a procurement environment (desirable).
- Experience of administering processes to tight timescales and with a high level of accuracy.
- Able to work effectively within a team.
Apprenticeship Requirements: You must have been a UK, EEA, or EU resident for at least the past three years to undertake this training programme.
If you do not have a Level 2 or equivalent in Maths and English, you will be required to work towards achieving these qualifications as part of your apprenticeship.
