Join our team and make a real impact as a Procurement Officer on a full-time, 12-month fixed-term contract covering maternity leave. You will play a key role in ensuring compliance with the latest legislation and adopting best practices in procurement to achieve excellence in every project we undertake.

About you...

As a Procurement Officer, you will play a key role in developing high-performing procurement practices across the council. You will be involved in the early stages of adopting self-service tools and a business partner approach, supporting officers with Above Threshold procurements and ensuring compliance with the latest legislation.

You will also contribute to the training and development of procurement skills across the council, helping colleagues to build confidence and expertise in procurement processes.

We are looking for a candidate with a degree or equivalent qualification, who is enthusiastic, proactive, and committed to delivering excellence in every project.

About the team...

You will be part of the Corporate Procurement Team, which Bracknell Forest Council has significantly invested in to enhance our processes and support the delivery of best‑practice procurement strategies.

You will work closely with commissioners for the Directorates you support, in delivering strategic and above threshold procurements, conducting them compliantly with legislation and the council’s Contract Standing Orders.

In addition, you will support the Business Partners of the team in managing core council systems.

Key responsibilities...

  • Supporting cross-functional teams to develop new contracts, delivering clear service improvements and real cash savings.
  • Advising commissioners on procurement and contract management issues.
  • Delivery of Above Threshold and strategic procurements
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and contract standing orders.
  • Promoting self-service procurement through training, coaching, and use of e-procurement.
  • Having an advanced understanding and experience in utilising e-tendering systems to maximise its functionality and use.
