How You’ll Be Involved
In the Private Sector Housing Service, part of the Homes and Communities Directorate, your main goal is to elevate standards in Camden's private rented sector. You will support our Houses in Multiple Occupation licensing schemes, leading on enforcement and compliance inspections. This role empowers you to leverage a full suite of enforcement tools—from Civil Penalty Notices to Banning Orders—to address substandard housing.
Additionally, you'll promote grants and landlord accreditation as effective alternatives, all aimed at enhancing the private housing landscape in Camden, with a strong focus on rental properties.
You will have the opportunity to support and mentor a team of professional officers in their development and performance to deliver service objectives.
This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and will require an Enhanced DBS.

To be considered for this post you will be a qualified Environmental Health Officer with a certificate of registration issued by the Environmental Health Registration Board (EHRB) or hold Chartered status.
The ideal candidate will have a detailed knowledge/understanding of the Housing Act 2004, and other legislative framework relevant to improving housing management and conditions and its application to casework. Have experience of working collaboratively with internal and external partners to identify innovative and creative approaches to service directives. You are able to demonstrate your involvement in managing, organising and coordinating cross-service projects, and identify how this has led to a successful outcomes. You will have proven experience of providing advice on complex cases and act as a mentor for training purposes.
