Practice Supervisor Future4Me
Are you passionate about high-quality Youth Justice practice and keen to have an impact across a whole service?
We have an exciting opportunity to join Future4Me in a service-wide Practice Supervisor role, providing practice support and additional management capacity across Lincolnshire.
This is a varied role that will give you the opportunity to work across our locality teams, alongside Team Managers, Practice Supervisors, Seniors and practitioners. You will provide additional support where it is most needed, whether that's helping to think through a complex piece of work, offering professional advice and guidance, coaching practitioners, supporting practice development or providing additional supervisory and management capacity during busier periods.
What will you be doing?
We are proud of the high standards of Youth Justice practice across Lincolnshire and a key part of this role will be helping us maintain those standards and continue to develop them.
You will lead on Youth Justice quality assurance across Future4Me, helping us understand what we are doing well and where we can make things even better. You'll coordinate audits and other quality assurance activity, working closely with Practice Supervisors and Team Managers to make sure that learning is shared across teams and leads to meaningful improvements in practice.
You will have responsibility for your own matrix lead areas and will also have your own line management responsibility.
You'll also help us make sure that our practice continues to reflect HM Inspectorate of Probation (HMIP) expectations, Youth Justice Board standards and guidance, and Child First principles, supporting the service to remain well prepared for future inspection.
Child First practice will be at the heart of the role. We want children to be seen as children first, with their strengths, needs, development, identity, circumstances and lived experiences understood alongside the behaviour that has brought them into contact with Youth Justice. You'll help us make sure children's voices are heard and that their participation is meaningful, while also maintaining a clear focus on safeguarding, risk and harm, public protection and the needs and experiences of victims.
Another important part of the role will be leading on the review and development of our Youth Justice policies, procedures and practice guidance. This isn't just about keeping documents up to date. We want someone who can help turn changes in legislation, guidance, inspection expectations and emerging good practice into something meaningful and useful for practitioners in their day-to-day work.
About the Team
Future4Me launched Countywide in February 2019 and brought together the Council's core offer to adolescents by building on the Youth Justice Team, Youth Hub and Family Help. Focusing on supporting children aged 14-18, we have a dedicated hub comprising of staff with a focus on youth housing, diversion for youth justice, child exploitation, and community interventions. We work with a trauma recovery approach and address the challenging and complex behaviours through multi-disciplinary cooperation. Future4Me aims to provide safe spaces for our children and protect them from extra familiar harm.
What are we looking for?
We're looking for someone who really understands Youth Justice practice and is confident using that knowledge to support and influence others.
You'll need to be comfortable moving between different aspects of the role. One day you might be helping a practitioner or manager work through a particularly complex case, another you might be looking at themes emerging through audits or reviewing a piece of practice guidance.
You'll be someone who can support and challenge in equal measure, build good relationships and bring people with you when changes are needed.
Most importantly, we're looking for someone who is passionate about good Youth Justice practice, understands what Child First looks like in reality and wants to help us continue developing a service that achieves the best possible outcomes for children, families, victims and communities.
