About Us
London Borough of Newham is seeking an experienced and motivated individual to join our Housing Strategy and Partnerships team as a Performance and Compliance Officer on a permanent contract.
This role sits within the Inclusive Economy and Housing Directorate and plays a key part in ensuring that services delivered through the Housing Revenue Account, including PFIs, TMOs, housing associations, and external contractors, are monitored effectively and deliver the best outcomes for residents.
This post will be on LB Newham Terms and Conditions and based at Stratford, Newham with a degree of flexible working. Some travel between offices, sites, and meetings with housing providers may be required.
About the Job
As Performance and Compliance Officer, you will support the monitoring and management of a wide range of housing delivery providers to ensure that services are delivered to the highest standard and align with the Council’s strategic objectives.
You will be responsible for reviewing performance data, conducting compliance visits and audits, managing contractor payments, and ensuring adherence to statutory housing standards including health and safety requirements. The role also involves preparing reports, supporting service reviews, and contributing to the development of strategic frameworks that drive continuous improvement.
This is a varied role, requiring both a strong grasp of detail and the ability to see the bigger picture. You will be a key link between the Council and its delivery partners, helping to ensure that residents receive high-quality, safe, and compliant housing services.
About You
You should bring a strong understanding of housing policy, contract management, and service performance monitoring. Experience of working with housing providers, contractors, or housing associations is essential, alongside the ability to analyse complex data and produce clear, well-evidenced reports.
You will need excellent communication and negotiation skills to build constructive relationships with a wide range of stakeholders. The ability to work under pressure, manage competing priorities, and resolve conflicts effectively will be key to your success in this role.
