Starting Salary: £74,913 - £100,831 (including 25% gratuity and 30% market supplement) - dependant on skills and experience.

The post is for a fixed term of up to four years in the first instance with the possibility of extension. Secondment and interchange opportunities will be considered
THE OPPORTUNITY

The Falkland Islands Government has recently granted its first regulatory approval for a field development and production programme, with first oil expected in 2028. This is an unrivalled opportunity to make an impact as we start our journey as an oil-producing country.
THE ROLE
The Offshore Petroleum Health and Safety Team Leader is responsible for leading a team of inspectors and overseeing the health and safety regulation of offshore petroleum developments through a robust inspection programme and the effective implementation of legislation, including responding to incidents and carrying out investigations. The postholder will also contribute to the development of industry guidance, standards and operational strategy.
THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL:
- Have at least seven years’ experience of working in health and safety regulation in the UK oil and gas industry, including reviewing and assessing safety cases. Candidates without UKCS experience will not be considered.
- Have an excellent understanding of UK health and safety legislation and its application.
- Be able to demonstrate management or leadership experience in a relevant technical, regulatory, or enforcement environment.
- Have confidence to intervene on unsafe acts and conditions.
- Have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to advise, collaborate and build excellent working relationships with individuals at all levels of government, conduct effective external stakeholder engagement and deal credibly with politicians and the public.
- Have excellent verbal and written communication, including the ability to express ideas and impart key messages clearly, concisely and effectively and to present complex concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Be able to identify pragmatic solutions to complex problems.
- Have a good knowledge of MS Office including Excel, PowerPoint, Project and Word.
- Be highly motivated and able to work on own initiative.
- Hold a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a health and safety discipline, or other evidence of suitable training and job experience to the offshore petroleum industry.
- Possess a valid BOSIET, CA-EBS, OPITO MIST and OEUK medical, or be willing to get them before starting.
- Possess a valid driving licence.
