Transform Homes. Change Lives. Enable Independence.
Do you want a role where every assessment has the potential to transform someone's life?
At the City of Wolverhampton Council, we're looking for a passionate Occupational Therapist to join our dynamic Independent Living Service, helping children and adults live independently, safely and with dignity in the homes they love.
This is much more than prescribing equipment. You'll be at the heart of helping people overcome barriers, regain confidence and achieve the outcomes that matter most to them. Whether it's enabling someone to remain in their family home, supporting a child to access essential facilities, or designing major adaptations that transform daily living, your expertise will make a lasting difference.
Why This Role?
No two days are the same.
One day you could be assessing a complex adaptation to enable someone to remain at home following a life-changing diagnosis. The next, you'll be working alongside housing professionals, technical officers and families to design solutions that maximise independence and improve quality of life.
You'll have the opportunity to:
✅ Assess and recommend equipment, assistive technology and housing adaptations
✅ Influence life-changing adaptation projects including level access showers, stairlifts and accessible living solutions
✅ Work creatively to solve complex occupational performance challenges
✅ Build strong partnerships with housing, health and social care colleagues
✅ Support both adults and children across a diverse and rewarding caseload
✅ Promote strengths-based practice and independence every day
What We're Looking For
We're seeking an Occupational Therapist who is:
- HCPC registered
- Passionate about enabling independence
- Skilled in problem solving and clinical reasoning
- Interested in housing adaptations, equipment and environmental design
- A confident decision-maker who enjoys autonomous community-based working
- Committed to delivering person-centred, strengths-based interventions
Experience in adaptations and equipment is welcomed, but equally important is enthusiasm, curiosity and a commitment to helping people achieve the best possible outcomes.
What You'll Get in Return
At Wolverhampton, Occupational Therapy is valued as a key profession in delivering independence and preventing the need for ongoing care and support.
We offer:
- Hybrid working arrangements
- A supportive and experienced therapy team
- Regular supervision and professional development
- Opportunities to develop specialist skills in housing adaptations and independent living
- A varied and rewarding caseload
- The opportunity to work creatively and autonomously
- The satisfaction of seeing genuine, life-changing outcomes for the people you support
