Night Care Assistant - Bedford House

Job Description

The London Borough of Harrow is looking for an As and When Night Care Assistant to provide a warm, safe and caring atmosphere in the home, and to participate in planning and providing appropriate individual care for service users whilst enhancing their independence and dignity.

Tasks include overseeing residents’ activities at night and participating with them in accordance with their agreed care plans. Some residents may be recovering from severe and enduring Mental Health Problems, therefore they may have either challenging behaviours and/or complex needs.

The Night Care Assistant is a member of the team but due to their working pre dominantly alone whilst on shift, it is also expected to act with initiative, skill and responsibility. They will also observe the department’s rules regarding health and safety, safeguarding adults and confidentiality.

The successful candidate will have:

• An understanding of the developmental needs (social, emotional and physical) of adults who have severe learning disabilities/mental health.
• An understanding of the issues around health and safety at work.
• Experience working with adults who have learning disabilities/mental health or physical disabilities.
• Experience working in a residential setting or day care setting.
• Ability to work flexibly.
• Ability to provide service users with dignity, and respect whilst undertaking personal care.
• Experience in Caring environment – employment or personal
• Must have N.V.Q. level 2 or equivalent or working towards one.
