Market Service Assistant

About the Role

Rotherham Markets is seeking a motivated and dependable Market Service Assistant to support the day-to-day operation of the Indoor Market, Outdoor Market and associated market activities.

This is a varied and practical role that helps ensure the market remains a clean, safe and welcoming environment for traders, tenants and visitors. The successful candidate will work as part of the Markets Team, providing operational support across market facilities and assisting with the delivery of a high-quality service to both customers and market users.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with the day-to-day operation of Rotherham Markets and associated facilities.
• Support traders, tenants, customers and visitors by providing information and assistance as required.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness and presentation throughout market areas.
• Carry out routine inspections and report maintenance issues, defects or health and safety concerns.
• Assist with waste management and ensure market areas remain clean, tidy and safe.
• Support the set-up and delivery of market events, promotions and special activities.
• Monitor facilities and equipment, reporting any faults or concerns promptly.
• Assist with the movement and storage of market equipment and materials where required.
• Work in accordance with health and safety procedures and safe systems of work.
• Contribute to creating a positive customer experience and supporting the ongoing success of Rotherham Markets.

• Good organisational skills and the ability to manage a varied workload.
• Practical experience in a customer-facing, facilities, cleaning or operational environment would be advantageous.

Working Arrangements

This is a part-time position working 22.2 hours per week on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. The role requires a flexible approach to working hours to support the operational requirements of the Markets Service, including occasional attendance at events or activities where required.
