Broxbourne Environmental Services Trading Limited (BEST) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Broxbourne Borough Council delivering the Council’s domestic refuse and recycling collections, commercial waste collections, street cleansing, grounds maintenance and cemetery services, plus a range of other activities.

Job title: Market Inspector (Ref: MI)

Salary £17,306.12 p.a. (23 hours per week)

BEST is seeking a dedicated and proactive Market Inspector to oversee and manage the Borough’s weekly markets in Hoddesdon and Waltham Cross town centres, ensuring they operate smoothly, safely, and in compliance with relevant regulations. This role is ideal for someone with strong organisational skills, excellent communication abilities, and a keen eye for detail.

Applicants should ideally have previous experience working in a market environment or a similar regulatory role. They should have excellent communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills, and be able to work flexibly.

Working hours will be 11.5 hours on Wednesdays and Fridays, with some additional weekend work required.

The ability to converse at ease with market traders, and members of the public, and provide information and advice in fluently spoken English is essential in this post. A full, clean UK driving license is essential.
