Maintenance Engineer - Wakefield Equipment Service

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Wakefield Equipment Service as a Maintenance Engineer, supporting the provision of essential community medical equipment across the Wakefield district.

We are seeking a motivated individual with a recognised mechanical apprenticeship or equivalent practical experience. The successful candidate will have experience of working in a maintenance, repair, or technical environment and a good understanding of health and safety and safe working practices.

The role involves inspecting, servicing, repairing, and testing a wide range of community medical equipment, including hoists, profiling beds, pressure care equipment, transfer aids, and other equipment that supports individuals to live safely and independently at home. The postholder will also undertake Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) and Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations (LOLER) inspections, with training provided where required.

You will work across community settings, including service users' homes, residential and nursing homes, and healthcare facilities, ensuring equipment is safe, compliant, and fit for purpose. The role also includes servicing and preparing equipment within the Equipment Service workshop and stores to ensure equipment can be reissued promptly to those in need.

We are looking for someone who is organised, reliable, customer-focused, and able to work both independently and as part of a team. Good communication and IT skills are essential.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a service that makes a tangible difference to the lives of people across Wakefield every day.

Driving License is essential.
