About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated individual to join our Highway Network Management Team within the Highways and Public Protection Department.
The role will have a specific focus on undertaking site-based inspections of new developments and infrastructure to ensure compliance with approved and highway adoptable specifications.
The postholder must have previous knowledge of the section 38 and 278 agreement process, a detailed knowledge of highway construction materials and understand the traffic management requirements to be able safe works on the highway.
The key responsibilities include:
- Supervision of section 38 works.
- Supervision of Section 278 works on the highway.
- Maintaining detailed records of all site visits.
- Ensuring compliance with Chapter 8 and associated codes of practice.
- Enforcement of Highways Act 1980.
- Responding to enquiries from Councillors and members of the public.
This role suits someone with a good knowledge of highway specifications, a team player with strong verbal and written communication skills who is able to competently organise and prioritise their workload.

Salary range
- £38,510 - £42,123 per year
