The role

Help children thrive, achieve and develop a lifelong love of learning!!

We are looking for an enthusiastic, reflective and skilled Key Stage 1 class teacher to join our friendly one-form-entry primary school on a fixed-term basis until the end of the academic year.

This is an exciting opportunity for a teacher who combines strong subject knowledge with excellent classroom practice. We are looking for someone who can deliver an ambitious and engaging Key Stage 1 curriculum, establish secure foundations in phonics, reading, writing and mathematics, and adapt teaching so that every child can succeed.

We want our Key Stage 1 classroom to be a place where children feel safe, valued and inspired to think, ask questions, develop independence and take pride in their learning.

We are looking for a teacher who:

  • is an excellent and enthusiastic classroom practitioner with high expectations for every child;
  • has a secure understanding of the Key Stage 1 curriculum and how children build knowledge and skills over time;
  • creates an ambitious, stimulating and well-organised classroom environment with clear routines and positive relationships;
  • delivers effective systematic synthetic phonics and supports children to become confident, fluent and enthusiastic readers;
  • plans and teaches engaging, well-sequenced lessons in reading, writing and mathematics, alongside a broad and balanced curriculum;
  • uses modelling, questioning, feedback and adaptive teaching to help all pupils make strong progress;
  • develops children’s vocabulary, communication, confidence, independence and positive learning behaviours;
  • uses assessment intelligently to identify what children know, understand and need to learn next, without creating unnecessary workload;
  • is committed to inclusive practice and securing excellent provision for children with SEND and those who may be disadvantaged;
  • develops warm, positive and professional relationships with children, parents, carers and colleagues;
  • is reflective, collaborative and keen to contribute to the continuing development of our Key Stage 1 provision; and
  • is fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

This appointment is offered on a fixed-term basis for two terms, from 4 January 2027 to 31 July 2027 – we will consider applications for candidates who can start later. The school will not renew or extend fixed-term contracts, or re-engage individuals on successive fixed-term contracts, unless there is a genuine, objective justification for doing so

The successful applicant will receive the employment rights, pay, conditions and benefits applicable to the role and will not be treated less favourably because of their fixed-term status, except where any difference in treatment is objectively justified.
