Job Introduction

The West of England Mayoral Combined Authority (MCA) is seeking to appoint an Investment Governance Officer to join the Investment Management Team.

Your key responsibility in this role will be to help ensure the MCA's investments are effectively managed, monitored and governed, supporting the delivery of the Mayor's priorities and ensuring public funding achieves maximum impact for communities across the West of England. You'll play an important role in maintaining robust governance processes, supporting investment performance and ensuring compliance with internal and regulatory requirements.

We're looking for a proactive, organised and detail-focused individual who is passionate about delivering high-quality governance and supporting investment programmes that make a real difference. If you enjoy working with data, building strong relationships and ensuring things run smoothly behind the scenes, this could be an excellent opportunity to develop your career within a growing investment management function.

This is a critical time in our transformation and growth journey, and you'll be pivotal in helping us achieve our ambitions by:

  • Supporting the day-to-day management and monitoring of investment programmes and projects.
  • Developing and maintaining accurate investment records, reports, dashboards and governance documentation
  • Ensuring investment data is complete, accurate and audit-ready across MCA systems and reporting platforms
  • Completing governance processes, contract variations, approvals and reporting requirements in line with agreed procedures. Providing analytical, administrative and compliance support to the Investment Management team and wider stakeholders.

What you'll be doing

Are you someone who is highly organised, analytical and comfortable working with data, and ultimately always focuses on delivering excellent governance and value for money?

As our Investment Governance Officer, you'll:

  • Support investment managers with performance monitoring, issue tracking and stakeholder engagement activities
  • Prepare reports, dashboards, governance papers and investment management documentation.
  • Manage investment information within MCA systems, ensuring accuracy, consistency and compliance.
  • Assist with audits, information requests and governance reviews, ensuring records are maintained to a high standard. Identify risks, issues and data quality concerns, escalating matters where appropriate.
  • Support the continuous improvement of investment management processes, templates and reporting arrangements. Contribute to a positive, collaborative team environment and the sharing of best practice

What you'll bring

You'll be a motivated and detail-oriented professional who enjoys working in a structured environment and takes pride in delivering accurate, high-quality work.

We're particularly interested in people who:

  • Have experience supporting investment, commercial, finance or governance activities within a complex organisation.
  • Understand investment management principles and the investment lifecycle.
  • Have experience producing reports, managing data and maintaining governance documentation.
  • Are confident using Microsoft 365 and document management systems.
  • Demonstrate strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills.
  • Can manage competing priorities and meet deadlines effectively. Communicate clearly and work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders.
  • Bring a professional, customer-focused approach to everything they do.

Why choose us?

The Investment Management Team plays a vital role in ensuring that investment programmes are effectively governed, monitored and delivered for the benefit of the West of England. You'll work alongside experienced colleagues, gain exposure to high-profile investment activity and help ensure public funding delivers meaningful outcomes.

This is an opportunity to make a real difference while developing your career within investment management and governance. You'll gain valuable experience across investment performance, reporting, compliance and stakeholder engagement within a supportive and ambitious organisation.
