About the role

Are you someone who takes pride in making a visible difference in the community? We’re looking for a practical, reliable and motivated Intensive Cleaning Operative to join our Neighbourhood Services team.

In this varied and hands-on role, you’ll help maintain public spaces across the town, carrying out specialist cleaning and environmental maintenance work that directly improves the look and feel of local neighbourhoods. From removing graffiti and fly-posting to cleaning public areas, supporting grounds maintenance and helping at community events, no two days are the same.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working outdoors, is physically active, and wants to be part of a team delivering an important frontline service to residents.

What you’ll be doing:

  • removing graffiti, fly-posters, stickers and other environmental nuisance
  • cleaning public surfaces, street furniture, signs and subways
  • carrying out basic repairs and repainting to a high standard
  • supporting grounds maintenance tasks such as strimming, hedge trimming, litter picking and leaf clearance
  • using specialist equipment and vehicles safely and effectively
  • recording completed work and reporting issues where needed
  • helping deliver a clean, safe and welcoming environment for the community

What we’re looking for - we’d love to hear from you if you:

  • enjoy practical, outdoor work
  • can work well independently and as part of a team
  • have a strong awareness of health and safety
  • are organised, reliable and customer-focused
  • are confident using tools, equipment and vehicles relevant to the role
  • hold a full current UK driving licence (category B)

Experience in specialist cleaning, grounds maintenance, graffiti removal, decorating, or working with equipment such as jet washers and maintenance machinery would be an advantage.
