
Independent Living Officer
Make a Difference in Lancaster
Join us as an Independent Living Officer and play a vital role in supporting older adults to live independently within our community. You will manage a dedicated Independent Living scheme, ensuring tenants feel valued, supported, and able to sustain their tenancies. Your work will directly impact the wellbeing and quality of life for residents across approximately 65 properties and communal spaces.
What You’ll Be Doing
You will be the main point of contact for tenants, providing guidance on housing, health, and social issues both on-site and in tenants’ homes. Your responsibilities include managing daily operations, responding calmly and efficiently to emergencies, and maintaining accurate records. You will also provide cover for other schemes within Lancaster City Council, working independently while being part of a supportive, dispersed team.
You’ll Fit Right In If…
You hold a full driving licence and an enhanced DBS check, and you are passionate about supporting older adults. Your excellent organisational skills, attention to detail, and ability to stay calm under pressure will help you thrive. Local Government Reorganisation
The Government has confirmed that local government across Lancashire will be reorganised, with the current 15 councils being replaced by four new unitary councils covering North, South, East and West Lancashire from April 2028.
If you are successful in your application, you will initially join Lancaster City Council. However, as part of the planned transition, your employment will transfer to one of the new unitary councils from April 2028, subject to the implementation of the reorganisation and relevant employment legislation.

Salary range
- £27,274 - £32,046 per year
