Help us keep our digital services secure, reliable and connected.

We’re looking for an experienced ICT Senior Technical Officer to join our ICT Infrastructure team and help support the technology our colleagues rely on every day.

This is a varied, hands-on role where you’ll work across our Microsoft Exchange and Microsoft 365 hybrid environment, alongside the security technologies protecting our internet and web-based services. You’ll tackle complex technical challenges, improve resilience and security, and contribute to the continued development of our Microsoft 365 environment.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll take a senior technical role across messaging and internet security, including:

  • Supporting Exchange Server, Exchange Online and Microsoft 365.
  • Managing our hybrid messaging environment, mail flow and email security.
  • Supporting internet proxy, secure web gateway and web-filtering services.
  • Investigating complex incidents and getting to the root of recurring problems.
  • Improving the security, performance and resilience of critical services.
  • Supporting upgrades, migrations and wider Microsoft 365 improvements.
  • Working with suppliers and Microsoft to resolve complex technical issues.
  • Sharing your expertise and supporting colleagues across the team.

What we’re looking for

You’ll be an experienced ICT professional who enjoys solving complex problems and taking ownership through to resolution.

We’re particularly interested in experience across:

  • Microsoft Exchange Server, Exchange Online and hybrid environments
  • Microsoft Windows Server 2019 and above
  • Microsoft 365
  • Email security, SMTP, DNS and mail routing
  • Internet proxy, secure web gateway or web-content filtering
  • Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID
  • Enterprise networking and security
  • Incident, problem and change management

Knowledge of technologies such as Microsoft Defender for Office 365, Purview, Conditional Access, PowerShell, SPF, DKIM, DMARC and PKI would be an advantage.

Why join us?

You’ll be joining a large and diverse ICT environment where your work directly supports the services we provide to our communities.

You’ll have opportunities to work with Microsoft 365 and cloud technologies, contribute to major modernisation and transformation programmes, develop your technical skills and help shape how our services evolve.

We also offer flexible and hybrid working, learning and development opportunities, generous annual leave and the Local Government Pension Scheme.

Ready for your next challenge?

If you have a strong background in Microsoft messaging, Microsoft 365 or internet security and want a role where you can make a real technical contribution, we’d like to hear from you.

When applying, use the Skills and experience section to show how you meet the essential shortlisting criteria in the Job and Person Profile.
