ICT 1st Line Support Technician

37 hours per week, permanent

Salary NS5: £25,989 - £26,403per annum with a market supplement increasing the salary to £28,142 (to be reviewed in 3 years or if role is reviewed before then).

Working as an ICT 1st Line Support technician you will be responsible for providing an effective and efficient first line response to all internal customers.

Working at Castle House, Newark, you will ideally have some experience of working with ICT systems but support and development will be available for the right candidate.

As part of the role you will gain a ITIL Level 3 qualification.

Your duties and responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • To provide an effective & efficient response to all service desk calls in line with published Service Level Agreements.
  • To contribute to the maintenance and monitoring of the corporate ICT hardware and software inventories, ensuring only permitted and licensed software is installed and full documentation is included.
  • To ensure that all ICT and corporate standards, policies, and strategies are adhered to and are in-line with the infrastructure standards.
  • To monitor and maintain a first level support of applications at server level and network routers and to provide User and technical support of the IP Telephony system and Contact Centre technology. Prepare the daily backup and storage of the Authority data. Check all production processing to ensure accuracy and success. Investigate and resolve backup failures.
  • Out of hours work may be required in relation to major software and hardware project implementations where user downtime must be restricted to a minimum.

You will work across a range of Council sites and must be able to work flexibly to ensure that a high level of service is delivered. You will also provide excellent customer service and be able to work with tact and diplomacy to handle sensitive matters.

The post requires the individual to have regular access to a vehicle to enable them to travel within/outside the district to carry out their duties. Duties may include (but are not restricted to) attending meetings, different work locations, conducting site and other visits and transporting heavy/bulky equipment or materials for business purposes as and when required.
