We have a brand-new opportunity available for a Housing Procurement and Contracts Senior Specialist to join our proactive procurement team at Wokingham Borough Council, on a full time, permanent basis.

As a Housing Procurement & Contracts Senior Specialist, you will provide specialist advice in support of housing procurement and contract management. Your expertise will ensure compliance with procurement regulations while maximising value for money and quality outcomes for residents.

You will work closely with internal teams, suppliers, and external partners to develop effective contract strategies and deliver high-impact housing projects.

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Housing Procurement & Contracts Senior Specialist to join our dynamic team and play a pivotal role in supporting and managing contracts that support our strategic housing objectives!

Key responsibilities

  • Provides specialist Housing procurement and contract management advice, guidance and support to procuring and contracting goods services and works for the Council.
  • Provide support to major procurements in Housing to deliver projects on the Housing procurement pipeline
  • Ensure that all procurement projects are in line with current legislation and best practice relevant to professional area, and develop proposals for organisational improvement as appropriate
  • Applying specialist knowledge to support and lead projects, inputting into the procurement and contract management service

Candidate requirements

  • Good knowledge and experience of public sector procurement regulations, across a variety of category areas
  • Experience and excellent understanding of the Public Contracts regulations 2015 and understanding the requirements of the Procurement Act 2023 legislation
  • Experience in preparing procurement tender documentation, building tender timelines, evaluation approaches and methodologies and following due governance processes
  • Relevant professional qualifications such as Chartered Institute of Procurement and supply or a recognised business qualification or substantial previous experience in a procurement and contracts role
  • Strong IT skills utilising a variety of Microsoft packages
  • Experience of using e-procurement software
