
Housing Options Officer (Housing Advice)
Make a Difference in Lancaster
Join us as a Housing Options Advisor and play a vital role in preventing homelessness across Lancaster. You will provide tailored advice and support to individuals facing housing challenges, ensuring statutory duties are met and vulnerable people receive the help they need. Your work will directly impact lives, promoting community safety and wellbeing while supporting the Council’s commitment to continuous improvement and the Climate Emergency.
What You’ll Be Doing
You will deliver professional housing advice, assess and manage homelessness applications, and develop personalised housing plans. Working closely with applicants, landlords, and partner agencies, you’ll negotiate solutions to prevent homelessness. Your role includes safeguarding vulnerable clients, conducting financial assessments, and maintaining accurate case records. You’ll also participate in a duty rota to provide timely support and contribute to service development.
You’ll Fit Right In If…
You have a relevant housing qualification or equivalent experience, with a strong understanding of homelessness legislation and safeguarding. You’re confident communicating with diverse clients and skilled in negotiation and problem-solving. You work well under pressure, manage complex caseloads, and embrace our values of Working Together, Ambition, Pride, and Ownership. Salary range
- £31,022 - £36,363 per year
