Housing Advice Officer
North Lincolnshire Council is looking for Housing Advice Officers to join our Housing and Homeless Prevention team. You will provide practical, person-centred advice and support to people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, helping them find and sustain settled accommodation while ensuring the Council meets its homelessness responsibilities.
You will assess people’s circumstances, investigate homelessness cases, develop and review personalised housing plans, and provide advice on housing options. You will also work with landlords, partner agencies and other Council services to prevent homelessness and find solutions for individuals and families.
The role includes managing cases involving complex needs, preparing decision letters and records, and helping people access appropriate temporary accommodation when required.
We are recruiting on a career grade basis, with appointment at Grade 5, 6 or 7 depending on your skills and experience. At the higher grades, you will take on more complex casework and may deputise for the Housing Advice Co-ordinator, represent the service at partnership meetings, and support colleagues through coaching, mentoring and advice.
You will have experience of working with people who are homeless or vulnerable, strong communication and assessment skills, and the ability to manage a demanding caseload. You will be committed to fair, inclusive and confidential practice, work well independently and with others, and be willing to develop your housing knowledge and skills.
A Level 4 CIH qualification or equivalent experience is required for Grade 7.
The post involves agile working across North Lincolnshire and may require participation in the Council’s out-of-hours homelessness emergency service when needed.
Please see attached job description and employee specification which you should refer to when completing your application to demonstrate you meet the essential criteria for the role.
