Job Introduction

We’re recruiting a Home Ownership Coordinator to join our Home Ownership Team at Milton Keynes City Council.

Our team supports leaseholders and shared owners across the city, providing advice and managing services including Right to Buy, leasehold matters and statutory consultations.

At the heart of this role is helping customers navigate important housing matters, making sure they receive clear, accurate and timely information.

As a key point of contact, you’ll manage your own enquiries and cases, working with customers, contractors and colleagues to keep things moving.

The work is varied, from coordinating Section 20 consultations and supporting Right to Buy applications to dealing with leasehold and shared ownership enquiries.

There will also be opportunities to use your problem-solving skills to help resolve more complex leasehold and service charge issues.

It’s a rewarding role for someone who enjoys taking ownership, building positive relationships and making a difference through good customer service.

Site-Based role

This is a Site-Based role, and you’ll be expected to work from the designated workplace.

Interviews for this role will be held on 27th November 2026

Please note, interviews are held in person.

Role Responsibilities
  • Act as a first point of contact for leaseholders, shared owners and stakeholders, managing enquiries and cases and providing clear advice and guidance.
  • Manage Section 20 consultations, including issuing notices, maintaining accurate records, responding to observations and monitoring statutory deadlines.
  • Manage the first stage of Right to Buy applications, completing eligibility checks, gathering information and progressing cases within statutory timescales.
  • Support leasehold and shared ownership services, including solicitors’ enquiries, staircasing, lease extensions, assignments and post-completion processes.
  • Investigate and help resolve complex leasehold and service charge disputes by reviewing leases, service charge information, property records, contractor costs and relevant legislation.
  • Maintain accurate housing and property records, work effectively with contractors and stakeholders, and occasionally attend meetings or site visits when needed.
Ideal Candidate
  • Experience in a busy administrative or coordinator role will give you a strong foundation for this position.
  • Organised and able to prioritise effectively, you can keep different cases moving while managing competing deadlines.
  • Great communication skills are important, with the confidence to build positive relationships with customers, colleagues and external stakeholders.
  • A calm, customer-focused approach will help you handle enquiries, disputes and complaints professionally.
  • Experience of housing, leasehold or shared ownership would be an advantage, along with an interest in developing your knowledge further.
  • Comfortable using IT and different systems, you’ll understand the importance of keeping clear and accurate records.
  • Taking initiative comes naturally to you, and you’re happy to take ownership and find solutions when something needs resolving.
  • Above all, you’ll reflect our values by being dedicated in the service you provide, respectful in how you work with others and collaborative in finding solutions.

As part of the pre-employment checks, should you be offered the role, we’ll carry out a Basic Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
