An exciting opportunity to join the City of Wolverhampton Public Health Team, where we have four fixed-term Health Improvement Officer positions available.
We are looking for four motivated and passionate Health Improvement Officers to join our Public Health team and help improve health outcomes across Wolverhampton.
As a Health Improvement Officer, you will work with a range of communities, organisations and partners to tackle health inequalities, promote wellbeing, and deliver evidence-based initiatives that make a real difference to people’s lives.
You will design and deliver training, support community engagement, lead health campaigns and manage projects across a range of public health priorities. Working collaboratively, you will build strong partnerships, empower communities, and use evidence and data to shape and evaluate your work.
We are seeking those with experience in public health or a related field, who have excellent communication skills, can influence others and are confident managing projects. You will be proactive, adaptable and committed to reducing inequalities, with the ability to work flexibly across a range of priorities and settings.
Health Improvement Officer - Two Year Fixed Term (3 positions)
Health Improvement Officer - 12 Month Fixed Term (1 position)
The roles are based within our Children and Young People, Adults and Strategic Commissioning Public Health functions, supporting supporting a wide range of priority areas.
The children and young people's role(s) will support areas including maternal and infant health, the Healthy Child Programme, obesity, emotional and mental wellbeing, and oral health.
The strategic commissioning role(s) will focus on areas including public health commissioning, cancer screening, sexual health, substance misuse and gambling.
The adult role(s) will support health care public health and primary care links, hypertension, NHS health checks, healthy aging mental health, weight management and smoking cessation.
The four successful postholders will be expected to operate flexibly, working in a matrix structure to support all wider departmental priorities.

Our working arrangements
All council roles are allocated to either a fixed, field or flexible work style. Some roles are agile which enable and empower employees to maximise their performance and productivity, whilst maintaining a healthy work life balance. Roles with a fixed workstyle work in a fixed permanent council location. Roles with a field workstyle are usually allocated where employees are required to be out working in the community with a minimum requirement for 'touch down' space at any council location. Roles with a flexible workstyle have a flexible base location to meet the needs of the business and employees can work from a mixture of home or any council office, partner/client, or external location, as required to meet service requirements.
