    About the Team:

    You’ll be leading an experienced, dynamic, award and sector leading team responsible for driving forward a range of ambitious infrastructure and behaviour change programmes. We have a fantastic track record in developing ground breaking policy, such as our Kerbside Strategy, and in working with colleagues across the Council to shape, sponsor and deliver changes to our streets that deliver equitable, healthy, sustainable outcomes for our residents.     About the Role:

    As part of a maternity cover for 9 months, you will be responsible for planning and co-ordinating our transformative Healthy Streets programme which focus on active travel and public transport, re-imagining our streets and spaces to make them ‘fit for the future’, prioritising people over traffic, road danger reduction over speed and delivering fairer, more accessible places. Working closely with the climate change team, engineering, highways, parking, regeneration and others, you will provide great leadership, playing a leading role in the de-carbonisation of our borough, delivering on the Council’s climate, transport and health priorities.

    The successful candidate will:

    • Have experience of leading a multi-disciplinary team in developing and implementing strategies covering transport and public realm interventions
    • Have the vision to enable the delivery of future transport and public realm interventions in Lambeth, improving the quality of life for all the borough’s residents and diverse communities, ensuring the Council is recognised as a leader and innovator in the field
    • Show the ability to work collaboratively and co-ordinate the multi-faceted activities of a range of internal and external stakeholders across departments, business units and disciplines, championing innovative ways of working
    • Show evidence of team building skills and a commitment to inclusion, equity and social justice
    • Demonstrate leadership and authority as the Council’s visible senior point of contact for key external stakeholders and members.
