Group Manager - Street works and Network Management
Permanent – Full Time
Location: Lynton House
As soon people walk out of their front door they see, feel and use the Redbridge highway network.
Do you want to help shape, be part of, and contribute to the development of Redbridge helping our communities to help them travel around the borough for work or play safely and efficiently? Our objective is to create a safe and seamless network of travel whether you are walking, cycling, driving, or using public transport.
Redbridge is an ambitious, diverse, and exciting east-London borough with fantastic facilities for our residents. We have developed innovative ways to build our communities and transform our Council. This is an exciting time for the London Borough of Redbridge; and our team is at the heart of supporting residents in East London.
We are seeking a dynamic and forward-thinking Group Manager for Streetworks and Network Management to lead the team at the heart of one of London’s most ambitious and diverse boroughs. This is a pivotal leadership role overseeing the coordination of all roadworks, utility streetworks, and highways licensing, ensuring that disruption is minimised, compliance is enforced, and our road network keeps moving safely and efficiently.
You will lead the Council’s strategic approach to network management under the Traffic Management Ac, New Roads and Streetworks Act and the London Permit Scheme, championing innovative digital permitting systems, driving performance through inspections and enforcement, and shaping how we regulate utility companies operating on our streets. You’ll also oversee highway licensing activities, such as skips, scaffolds, and materials storage ensuring that all works on the public highway meet the highest standards of safety, legality, and service.
This is an exciting opportunity to manage a multi-disciplinary team of engineers, inspectors, and coordinators, working closely with internal services and external partners including statutory undertakers, developers, and Transport for London. You’ll have the chance to lead borough-wide initiatives that directly improve traffic flow, reduce congestion, and support the delivery of critical infrastructure and regeneration schemes.
If you are an experienced streetworks or highways professional with a strong grasp of legislation, exceptional leadership skills, and a passion for public service, then we want to hear from you. Help us shape a resilient, safe, and well-managed network that serves our growing population and sets the standard across London.
At Redbridge Highways, we are passionate about pushing boundaries and embracing new and innovative solutions that make a real difference in the lives of our residents. Our high-performing team is known for its creativity and resilience, continuously exploring new methods and technologies to enhance our borough’s infrastructure.
Join us and be part of a team that values your contributions, ensures you have the support and resources needed to grow your career and achieve your goals, fosters a collaborative environment, and is dedicated to making Redbridge a better place for everyone.
