Are you an organised administrator with excellent attention to detail and a passion for delivering high-quality support services?

As a Fleet Business Support Officer, you’ll play a key role in supporting the Environmental Service by providing efficient and effective administrative support to our fleet operations and wider service teams. Working closely with managers, supervisors, operational staff, colleagues across the council and members of the public, you’ll help ensure that essential services continue to run smoothly.

The primary focus of the role is providing administrative support to our two vehicle workshops, including maintaining accurate records, processing purchase orders and invoices, supporting fleet-related administration and ensuring information systems are kept up to date. As part of our wider Business Support Team, you will also contribute to a variety of administrative and project-related activities across the Environmental Service.

We’re looking for someone with a strong administrative background, ideally with experience in fleet administration or a similar environment. You’ll be confident working with data and figures, have experience of carrying out accurate data entry, and be comfortable processing financial information such as purchase orders and invoices. You’ll possess good IT skills, including experience with Microsoft Office applications, and have the ability to manage a varied workload in a busy office environment.

To succeed in this role, you’ll need excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong organisational abilities and a customer-focused approach. You’ll be able to work independently, prioritise competing demands and build positive working relationships with a wide range of people.

Why join us?

You’ll be joining a friendly and supportive team where your work can make a real difference to our residents, communities and environment. Alongside a competitive salary, we offer an excellent range of benefits including a Local Government Pension Scheme, generous holiday entitlement, free on-site parking and discounted leisure facilities.

We actively encourage a healthy work-life balance, continuous learning and development, and provide a programme of activities to support employee wellbeing.

We’re a friendly and progressive employer with strong leadership values and a commitment to inclusion. We welcome applications from people with different experiences, perspectives and backgrounds and want everyone who works with us to feel valued and able to thrive.

For an informal discussion about the role, please contact Naomi Soutar, Business Support Team Leader, on 01264 368370.
