Be the Backbone of the Performance

At The Old Town Hall, we bring the magic of the arts to the heart of Hemel Hempstead’s historic Old Town. Our stage hosts professional work across all genres, alongside a variety of private hires and community events.

We are looking for a dedicated Events Assistant who understands that a world-class performance starts with a world-class environment. While this role is part of our vibrant theatre team, it is primarily focused on cleaning and porterage services. You will be the silent hero ensuring our venue is pristine, safe, and ready for every guest and performer who walks through our doors.

    The Role

This is a hands-on, physically active role that requires someone with an eye for detail and a pride in their work. Your primary responsibilities will include:

    • Providing high-quality cleaning services across all areas of the theatre.
    • Managing porterage duties to ensure the venue remains organized and functional.
    • Executing the physical setup and breakdown of spaces, which includes lifting and moving equipment and supplies.
    • Working flexibly across a schedule that includes early mornings, evenings, and weekends to support our diverse program.

    We offer:

    • A competitive salary and benefits package, including a generous holiday allowance and pension scheme.
    • The chance to work in a renowned historical venue with a rich cultural heritage.
    • The opportunity to work within a small, friendly team where your contribution to the venue's success is visible every day.
    • An active, hands-on role that keeps you moving and provides the satisfaction of maintaining a high-quality environment for our visitors.

Ready to make our historic venue shine?

A Basic check will be undertaken with the Disclosure and Barring Service to ensure that the successful candidate has no relevant convictions.
