Make a Difference in Lancaster

Join us in raising the standard of private housing across Lancaster. As an Environmental Health Officer, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring safe, healthy, and energy-efficient homes for our community. Your work will directly improve living conditions, reduce hazards like damp and mould, and support efforts to tackle fuel poverty, making a real impact on residents’ wellbeing.

What You’ll Be Doing
You’ll manage your own caseload, inspecting properties and working closely with landlords, tenants, and agents to promote compliance with housing legislation. Using negotiation, education, and enforcement, you’ll help improve housing quality and safety. You’ll also provide expert advice, prepare reports, support licensing schemes, and represent the council in legal settings. Collaboration with community groups and partner agencies will be key to delivering positive outcomes.
