Join Nottinghamshire County Council – a dedicated team committed to serving our community. We believe in creating a cleaner, greener environment for everyone. Our values are rooted in community, and we strive to make a positive impact every day.

Are you passionate about protecting the environment? As an Environmental Compliance Officer, you will play a vital role in ensuring our waste facilities operate smoothly and sustainably. You will monitor compliance, support health and safety initiatives, and engage with residents to address their concerns. If you have experience in waste management or transferable skills in environmental enforcement, we want to hear from you!

In this role, you will:

  • Monitor compliance and performance at waste facilities, conducting Duty of Care audits.
  • Support quality, health and safety, and environmental monitoring with contractors.
  • Respond to resident enquiries via phone, email, and in person at Household Waste Recycling Centres.
  • Collaborate closely with contractors and partner organisations to ensure high-quality service delivery.
  • Conduct site visits to monitor compliance and operational oversight at waste management facilities.

To thrive in this role, you should have:

  • A background in waste management or relevant experience in environmental enforcement, compliance, operational, or contract management.
  • A strong understanding of environmental regulations and compliance standards.

We are looking for candidates who:

  • Demonstrate a proactive approach to problem-solving and service delivery.
  • Exhibit strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to engage effectively with residents and contractors.
  • Embrace teamwork and collaboration, working independently and as part of a focused client team.
  • Show resilience and adaptability in a dynamic work environment.

At Nottinghamshire County Council, we offer:

  • A place to belong: Join a friendly, inclusive workplace where everyone is valued.
  • Professional development: Opportunities for training and growth to enhance your skills.
  • Work-life balance: Flexible working arrangements to support your personal commitments.
  • Generous leave: Enjoy a healthy work-life balance with ample time off.

Don’t miss out on this opportunity to make a difference in your community! If you are ready to take on this exciting challenge as an Environmental Compliance Officer, we encourage you to apply today. Join us in our mission to create a sustainable future for Nottinghamshire!
