Job Description

Enhanced Family Help Team Manager | 11484 | Permanent Contract | 37 hours per week | £51,821 to £56,068 per annum | Grade L | West Norfolk & Breckland

Are you an experienced and confident manager who is passionate about improving outcomes for children and families where there are complex needs and persistent or chronic neglect?

We are looking for an enthusiastic, dedicated and resilient Team Manager to lead our West and Breckland Enhanced Family Help Team. You will provide clear operational leadership to a smaller, specialist multi-disciplinary team delivering statutory and non-statutory help and protection to children aged 0–17 and their families.

The team works intensively with families where needs are complex and neglect is persistent or chronic. You will help staff understand the root causes, patterns and cumulative impact of neglect, keep a clear focus on each child’s lived experience, and ensure plans build on family strengths and support sustained positive change.

You will lead a team of Social Workers, Family Practitioners, a Clinician and Home-Based Support Workers. You will support strong multi-disciplinary planning, oversee work shared across the team and lead Team Around the Family supervision so that support is coordinated, purposeful and responsive to each child and family.

As Team Manager, you will allocate and authorise work, maintain robust oversight of all open cases and lead threshold and risk discussions. You will provide reflective supervision, professional challenge and clear management direction, while supporting staff wellbeing, development and performance. You will use audits, dip sampling, dashboards and performance conversations to set clear expectations and maintain high-quality, timely practice.

You will need to make sound decisions under pressure, chair key meetings and work closely with children, families, colleagues and partner agencies. You will model relationship-based, restorative and anti-discriminatory practice, oversee budgets and resources, and help ensure intervention is timely, effective and sustainable. The role requires a recognised social work qualification, registration with Social Work England, frontline management experience and substantial experience of working with children and families.
