Employment Coach – The Restart Scheme


Northumberland Skills offers residents a variety of full and part-time courses, apprenticeships, and employability advice and support across Northumberland. We are looking to appoint motivated and Employment Coach to work on The Restart Scheme. This role will involve managing a caseload of participants, providing tailored employability support to help individuals overcome barriers and progress towards sustainable employment. You will work closely with participants to assess needs, develop individual action plans, build confidence, improve job readiness, and support them in achieving their employment goals. You will engage with employers and local partners to identify suitable opportunities and support participants into work. The role includes regular review of progress, maintaining accurate records, coordinating referrals to specialist services where required, and providing ongoing in-work support to help individuals sustain employment and achieve positive outcomes.


Key Responsibilities:


Manage a caseload of participants, providing tailored employability support to help individuals move towards sustainable employment.

Assess individual needs, identify barriers to work, and develop personalised action plans to support progression.

Deliver job search support, including CV development, applications, interview preparation, and employment-focused workshops.

Build relationships with employers and partners to identify opportunities, match participants to vacancies, and support job outcomes.

Maintain accurate records and performance information, ensuring contractual targets and compliance requirements

Experience of working towards and achieving performance targets, including participant engagement, job outcomes, and sustaining employment results.

Essential Requirements:


Experience of providing employability, welfare-to-work, or careers support to individuals facing barriers to employment.

Experience of managing a caseload and supporting participants to achieve agreed goals and positive outcomes.

Ability to build effective relationships with participants, employers, and partner organisations.

Strong communication, organisational, and record-keeping skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.

Experience of working towards performance targets and achieving outcomes such as participant engagement, job starts, and sustained employment.

This is a face to face role and you will be based in the south-east of the county; however, it is expected that you will work from other offices across Northumberland as required to meet business needs. Flexibility to travel and work across multiple locations will therefore be essential to ensure service delivery and participant support requirements are met.


This post is fixed term and funded for 18 months.
