
Economic Policy & Intelligence Officer

This exciting role will provide the intelligence, analysis and evidence needed to shape economic growth, regeneration and employment initiatives, helping to create opportunities for businesses and local communities across North Worcestershire.
Key Requirements
- Lead the development and review of policies across economic growth, employment, skills, business support, innovation and devolution programmes.
- Analyse economic, employment and business data to identify trends, opportunities and challenges, supporting informed decision-making.
- Produce high-quality intelligence reports, dashboards, forecasts and impact assessments to guide investment and regeneration priorities.
- Develop evidence-based recommendations that support business growth, enterprise and initiatives that tackle unemployment.
- Build effective relationships with businesses, education providers, regional organisations and other stakeholders to support shared economic objectives.
- Interpret government policy, guidance and funding opportunities to help shape local strategies and programmes.
- Prepare reports, briefings and presentations for senior managers, elected Members and partner organisations.
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Degree-level qualification in economics, public policy, research/statistics, business or a related discipline, or substantial relevant experience demonstrating equivalent knowledge.
- Strong understanding of economic analysis, labour market intelligence and business trends.
- Experience of policy development and translating national or regional priorities into effective local action plans.
- Experience of working collaboratively with public, private and voluntary sector organisations.
- Strong analytical and research skills with the ability to interpret complex datasets and present findings clearly.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to produce reports and briefings for a range of audiences.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities, work independently and meet deadlines.
- Stakeholder engagement experience with businesses, education providers or regional organisations.
Desirable
- Postgraduate qualification in economics, public policy or another relevant field.
- Understanding of planning policy relating to economic development and commercial uses.
- Experience of programme or project evaluation, including performance measurement.
- Experience commissioning or interpreting research and consultancy reports.
- Political awareness and experience of working within a public sector or governance environment.
- Knowledge of regeneration, town centre development, business support and skills programmes.

Salary range
- £45,091 - £48,226 per year
