This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys working with young children and is passionate about supporting their learning, development and wellbeing. The successful candidate will work within our Early Years provision, supporting children through purposeful, play-based learning and helping to provide a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment in which every child can thrive.

The role will involve supporting individual children and small groups with their learning and development, including communication and language, early literacy and numeracy, physical development, independence and personal, social and emotional development. You will support learning across both indoor and outdoor provision and help children to develop their confidence, curiosity and independence.

You will also contribute to observations and assessments of children’s learning and development, support positive behaviour and inclusion, assist with the preparation and organisation of learning environments, and support children with personal care routines where required. The role may also include lunchtime duties, educational visits and some after-school club duties as required.

We are looking for someone who is warm, patient and caring, with the ability to build positive relationships with children, colleagues and parents/carers. You should be enthusiastic, flexible, reliable and able to work effectively as part of a team, while also being confident using your own initiative.

Applicants must have GCSE Maths and English at Grade 4/C or above, or equivalent, and a Level 2 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning, Childcare or Early Years, such as CACHE/NVQ Level 2 or equivalent. Please ensure details of your Maths and English qualifications are included on your application form.

Experience of working with young children in an Early Years or primary school setting is essential, together with an understanding of how young children learn through play. Applicants should also have an understanding of safeguarding and child protection and demonstrate a clear commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

A Level 3 qualification in Early Years, Childcare or Supporting Teaching and Learning would be desirable, as would experience of supporting children with additional needs, contributing to EYFS observations and assessments, or working in partnership with parents and carers

At Alderman Bolton Primary School, you will have the opportunity to join a supportive team and make a real difference to children during the important early stages of their education. We are looking for someone who shares our commitment to providing children with a positive, nurturing and engaging start to their school journey.
