About the role

This position requires flexibility, as the service operates seven days a week. The post involves a combination of office-based, on-site, and home working, depending on the needs of the service. Occasional weekend and Bank Holiday standby cover may also be required.

As the DRT Fleet Co-ordinator, you will oversee and coordinate the day-to-day operation of the HertsLynx Demand Responsive Transport (DRT) service in Dacorum. This is a varied and hands-on role, responsible for ensuring the efficient delivery of services through effective driver management, customer service coordination, and fleet operations.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Line management and support of DRT drivers, promoting high standards of performance, safety, and customer service.
  • Planning and coordinating driver rotas and shift patterns to ensure adequate staffing levels at all times, including cover for annual leave and unplanned absences.
  • Managing and resolving complex operational and logistical challenges to maintain service reliability and efficiency.
  • Using digital transport management systems to optimise vehicle schedules, routes, and customer bookings.
  • Ensuring vehicle maintenance programmes are adhered to and working closely with the Fleet Management Team to arrange repairs, servicing, and vehicle inspections as required.
  • Acting as the main point of contact for customer service enquiries, monitoring shared inboxes, responding to customer queries by telephone and email, and assisting with booking requests when necessary.

The DRT Fleet Co-ordinator plays a vital role in the success and continued growth of HertsLynx, helping to deliver an accessible, reliable, and sustainable transport service for local communities. This position would suit a confident and proactive individual who can use their initiative, communicate effectively, and perform well in a fast-paced operational environment. Through this role, you will contribute to creating a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable Hertfordshire.
