
Domestic Assistant
Purpose of the Role
We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Domestic Assistant to join our dedicated team. This role is vital in supporting both our kitchen and cleaning operations to ensure a safe, hygienic, and welcoming environment for students and staff.
Key Responsibilities
Kitchen Support
- • Assist with lunch preparation and service
- • Set up and clear down the dining room before and after lunch
- • Wash up and clean kitchen and dining areas post-service
- • Support the Cook with end-of-day cleaning and kitchen lock-up
- • Maintain hygiene standards in line with Health & Safety regulations
- • Carry out additional tasks as directed by the Cook
Domestic Duties
- • Daily cleaning of classrooms, specialist rooms, staff areas, offices, and corridors
- • Maintain hygiene in all bathroom, toilet, and shower areas
- • Participate in deep cleaning for special events
- • Use appropriate cleaning equipment and materials safely
- • Collect and dispose of waste, including recycling
- • Store cleaning materials securely and safely
- • Perform other reasonable duties as required
Health & Safety
- • Follow all school health and safety procedures
- • Use appropriate signage during cleaning
- • Ensure safe passageways, especially fire escape routes
- • Store equipment securely to prevent accidents or misuse
- • Keep cleaning cupboards tidy and equipment in safe condition
Person Specification
- • Awareness of health and safety and hygiene practices
- • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- • Reliable, punctual, and committed to maintaining high standards
- • Experience in a similar role is desirable but not essential

Opened in 2018, Arc Oakbridge School is an independent special day school in the Jewellery Quarter, Birmingham with a specially designed learning environment created to meet the needs of autistic children. We provide a calm, low arousal, safe, positive and nurturing place where young people can learn and grow.
Arc Oakbridge School is part of Kedleston Group. We specialise in providing specialist education and care for children aged 7-19 with a range of special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). These include autistic spectrum condition (ASC), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and social emotional and mental health needs (SEMH).
