The starting salary for this role is £28,000 per annum based on a 36 hour working week.

About the Role

We want to expand our reach and increase our engagement.

You will help us to achieve this by:

  • Building our existing social media channels as well as researching/implementing new channels.
  • Keeping The Coalition website updated with fresh and engaging content.
  • Developing marketing materials for our events/social activities and services/projects.
  • Being the expert in digital accessibility

Main responsibilities

  • Craft/develop content for the Coalition’s social media channels
  • Co-ordinate and develop an ongoing schedule of new content for the social media platforms, ensuring this is in line with the overall organisation’s activities
  • Monitor networks/trending topics to ensure that the Coalition maximises any opportunities to respond to appropriate topics
  • Provide analysis of the effectiveness of our content through regular reporting
  • Keep the website updated
  • To ensure that our communications are available in a wide range of formats that meets the accessibility needs of our membership.
  • Working with the wider staff and volunteer team, to identify and generate compelling case studies and examples of our work.
  • To be the brand guardian for the organisation
  • To develop the knowledge of the staff team around effective communications
  • To develop our quarterly Newsletter
  • To attend member events to capture content for communications across all channels
  • To support fundraising with developing appropriate content for funding applications and reporting
  • Help develop and implement a 3 year communications and marketing strategy
  • Draft press releases as required and liaise with members, staff and journalists.


We are looking for someone with:

  • Outstanding organisation and planning skills (E)
  • Excellent written communication skills and experience with copywriting for social media platforms (E)
  • Some experience of creating and editing basic graphics, video and animation using software such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Canva, Adobe Effects and/or photo editing software (E)
  • Experience of editing web pages and building web pages (E)
  • Able to analyse and evaluate reports from social media activity (E)
  • A high degree of self-motivation and able to work on own initiative (E)
  • A creative flair, ideas and understanding of current media trends, identifying opportunities etc. (E)
  • Experience of working in a Disabled Peoples Organisation or in the wider Voluntary Community and Social Enterprise (VCSE) sector (D)
  • Experience and knowledge of working with people who are Disabled and/or carers or lived experience of Disability or being a family Carer (D)
