    One Year Fixed Term Contract

    Location: Lynton House, Ilford

Redbridge Children’s Services is recruiting a Designated Social Care Officer (DSCO) on a one-year fixed term basis. This is a full-time office based position.

This post will appeal to a qualified social worker who is passionate about improving outcomes for children and young people with special educational needs and disability (SEND). This is a strategic role. The DSCO will lead in framing and developing the social care elements of the SEND strategy across the local authority and the role will involve acting as the link between social care and education.

The post holder will have in-depth knowledge and understanding of both social care and the SEND reforms agenda and will identify areas where social care is weak or non-compliant with the SEND Code of Practice in addition to taking forward solutions and plans to address this - aligning these to social care’s operational and business plans along with statutory obligations.

Key to success will be the ability of the individual to negotiate with and influence others, build and nurture effective partnerships, particularly with SEND colleagues. The post holder will work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders across the local authority as well as at a regional and national level.
