The Transport Data and Modelling team plays a key role in shaping transport planning, policy development and investment decisions across the borough. Using a wide range of transport datasets, modelling tools and analytical techniques, the team provides the evidence needed to support business cases, assess transport schemes and inform strategic decision-making. Working closely with colleagues, partners, developers and customers, the team helps deliver sustainable transport solutions that support growth, improve connectivity and enhance the local environment.

What you will get to do
- Develop, maintain and run transport data models to support planning, policy development, scheme appraisal and business cases.
- Analyse, combine and interpret transport datasets to identify trends, forecast demand and model future transport patterns.
- Collect, clean, validate and manage data from a range of sources including traffic counts, surveys, GIS information, census data and mobile phone datasets.
- Produce accurate analysis and modelling outputs that align with local authority objectives and national and regional guidance.
- Respond to customer requests for transport data, including supplying information and processing invoicing where required.
- Support the delivery of a customer-focused, high-quality transport data service.
- Provide professional advice and guidance by keeping up to date with relevant technical, legislative and administrative developments.
- Work closely with the Team Leader and colleagues to support the effective delivery of projects and service objectives.
- Contribute to health and safety, quality assurance, continuous improvement and the promotion of best practice

What you will bring:
- Experience of working with data, including collecting, validating, analysing and interpreting information, with the ability to identify patterns, trends and draw logical conclusions from data.
- Strong numeracy, literacy and IT skills, with confidence using Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
- Experience of producing reports, dashboards, visualisations, maps or other data outputs to support decision-making.
- Confidence in learning and using new software systems, digital tools and analytical techniques; experience of GIS, Power BI, SQL, R, Python or similar tools would be advantageous.
- Strong attention to detail and an understanding of the importance of data quality, accuracy, security and confidentiality when handling and analysing information.
- Good organisational and communication skills, with the ability to manage priorities, deliver accurate work, explain information clearly and build positive working relationships with customers and colleagues.
- A collaborative, flexible and customer-focused approach, with a willingness to learn, develop and adapt to changing priorities, together with education to Level 2 standard (or equivalent qualification) in English and Mathematics.
