We are excited to be recruiting a Cycle Mechanic here in Barnsley, the place of possibilities, and help us to deliver our cycling and active travel ambitions encouraging our residents to cycle for work, travel or leisure.

It’s an exciting time to join us as we expand our cycling and active travel offer. We’re looking for a friendly, motivated Cycle Mechanic to support our new town centre Active Travel Hub and mobile unit across the borough.
In your role as Cycle Mechanic, you will:
Support the development and operational delivery of active travel hub, and the mobile active travel hub and their services which include:
- Advice and support to the public
- Support community engagement
- Support our cycle and e-cycle loan scheme
- Support our secure cycle parking operations
- Deliver Bike servicing and maintenance checks
- Support bike recycling and deployment
- Supporting Marketing and communications
- Work closely with others in the Sport & Physical Activity Team to support our wider walk, cycle and active travel offer in schools, workplaces, and communities. This will involve supporting cycling and walking activities as part of our engagement work.
About You
- A relevant Level 4 or cycle mechanic qualification (for example, Cytech), or equivalent experience.
- Experience in cycle servicing, fleet management or cycle delivery.
- A flexible approach and commitment to helping more people cycle in Barnsley.
- Customer-facing experience and the ability to create a welcoming, positive experience.

Salary range
- £28,598 - £31,022 per year
