About the Role
We are looking for motivated and customer-focused individuals to join our Court of Protection and Appointee Team as a Court of Protection and Appointee Caseworker.
As a Court of Protection and Appointee Caseworker, you will help manage financial affairs on behalf of adults who are unable to manage their own finances. You will manage your own caseload, gather information, process financial transactions and help ensure clients' finances are managed safely and appropriately.
You will work with service users, families, care providers and colleagues across Adult Social Care to ensure financial matters are dealt with accurately and on time. You will also explain processes clearly and provide support to people who may be in difficult or sensitive situations.
As your knowledge and confidence grow, you will have opportunities to develop your skills and take on more complex casework. This is a career graded opportunity, starting at Finance Assistant (G4) and progressing to Finance Technician (G5) as you develop your knowledge, skills and experience. We will support you through learning and development, helping you build the expertise needed to progress within the role.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of Court of Protection and Appointeeship cases.
- Gather, verify and record financial and personal information accurately.
- Support the management of client income, benefits, savings and everyday financial arrangements.
- Process financial transactions and maintain accurate financial records.
- Act as a point of contact for service users, families, representatives and partner organisations.
- Explain processes and provide clear updates on individual cases.
- Maintain accurate case records and ensure information is processed correctly.
- Identify risks, discrepancies or missing information and take appropriate action.
- Work closely with colleagues across Financial Services, Adult Social Care and external organisations to support positive outcomes for residents.
What We're Looking For
We are seeking someone who has:
- Experience in administration, customer service, finance, Adult Social Care, or another role with transferable skills.
- Good numeracy skills and the ability to work accurately with financial information.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to getting things right first time.
- Good communication skills, with the ability to explain information clearly and sensitively.
- The ability to organise and manage your workload effectively.
- Good IT skills and confidence using Microsoft 365 and computer systems.
- Empathy and professionalism when working with vulnerable adults and sensitive information.
- A willingness to learn and develop knowledge of Court of Protection, Appointeeship, the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and related legislation.
About the Service
The Court of Protection and Appointeeship Team helps manage finances for people who are unable to manage their own financial affairs and have no one suitable to support them.
We work closely with Adult Social Care, families, care providers and other organisations to ensure finances are managed safely and in the person's best interests. The team deals with a wide range of financial matters including benefits, income, payments and day-to-day money management.
As part of the team, you will play an important role in supporting vulnerable adults and helping to ensure their financial affairs are managed accurately, safely and professionally.
