Job Description

Overview

The London Borough of Harrow is looking for a dedicated and skilled Cook to join our in-house provider services. In this role, you will be a key part of our residents’ daily lives, contributing to their well-being through delicious and nutritious meals.

This position requires a compassionate individual with a strong culinary background who can work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Your main responsibilities will include preparing and assembling ingredients, and creating high-quality meals that meet specific resident needs and requests. You will be responsible for ensuring that all food is prepared and stored correctly to maintain freshness and safety.

This involves monitoring kitchen supplies and reordering stock as needed, maintaining a clean and safe kitchen is a top priority. You will be expected to ensure all utensils and food preparation areas are thoroughly cleaned and sterilised. You will also assist other cooks to ensure timely meal delivery and help to efficiently resolve any issues with suppliers. A deep understanding of food health and safety regulations is essential. Your commitment to these guidelines will be a core part of your daily duties. This role is more than just cooking; it’s about providing comfort, care, and nourishment in a safe and respectful environment.

(Please note: The post holder will be required to work at various units for our in-house provider services on an as and when basis.)


About You

The successful candidate will have:

  • An understanding and awareness of the Council’s Equal Opportunities policy

  • Some experience in cleaning
  • The potential to prioritise and manage personal workload
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Food Hygiene Level 2 Qualification
