We are seeking a Control Operator to work in our busy Lifeline office. Lifeline is a support service for the elderly and vulnerable tenants and residents of Charnwood Borough Council. Controllers are alerted to customers’ needs by the activation of a pendant or pullcord which sends an alert to the Lifeline monitoring center. The controller is required to ask questions to assess the nature of the emergency and decide on the action to be taken.

Action could involve calling the appropriate emergency services, talking to the appropriate medical professionals, or contacting family or carers.

Full training will be provided for the successful candidate.

This service is provided 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. You will work an average of 24 hours per week, the role is shift work and includes a night, an evening, afternoon, and a morning shift. This includes weekends and bank holidays as per the rota. Some shifts will require lone working.

Out of hours you will be responding to calls for emergency repair requests from tenants living in the borough.

The successful candidate must be able to deal calmly and confidently with a variety of situations and always remain polite and courteous. You must have the ability to work using your own initiative.

You must be a confident, clear communicator and able to respond in a manner which ensures trust in the service we are providing.

Candidates should have a knowledge and understanding of handling sensitive personal information in line with Data Protection.

You will be required to cover for colleagues’ sickness and holidays for which you will be paid overtime.
