We have an excellent opportunity available for a Contracts Officer to join our Contracts, Performance and Assurance Team in Adult Services here at Wokingham Borough Council, on a Full-time, Permanent basis.
As a Contracts Officer, you will support the Senior Contract Manager to follow our Contract Management Framework and keep contract processes running smoothly.
You will provide a helpful and efficient service to colleagues and partners. This includes carrying out supplier checks, managing communication about contract changes, and helping to set up both new and existing contracts.
You'll track expiring contracts and coordinate necessary actions, liaising with contract leads, Procurement, Legal, Finance, and Commissioners, while acting as a mentor for the Contract Assistant.
This role suits someone organised, accurate, and professional, with experience in contract management, procurement, or customer service, and the ability to meet deadlines and support others.

Key Responsibilities
- Carry out key admin tasks for contract management. This includes checking providers, communicating any contract changes, and coordinating work for new or updated contracts.
- Support the Senior Contract Manager (Adults) to deliver the Contract Management Framework for Adult Social Care.
- Use your knowledge to support key projects and help develop policies, strategies, and plans, including responding to changes in law and guidance.
- Support a culture of forward thinking and improvement that delivers value for money and better outcomes for residents. Show the Council’s values in your work, take responsibility, and turn goals into clear actions that encourage others to do their best.
- Oversee the contract admin work carried out by the Contract Assistant and provide support and guidance in the role.
Candidate Requirements
- Good understanding of the laws and guidance around Adult Social Care.
- A relevant qualification, or similar experience in customer service, contract management, or procurement.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt your style for different audiences.
- Experience working in a customer-focused role and providing a high level of service.
