About the Role

This role is crucial in ensuring our contract management function across both bus and rail are delivering effective contract management to our franchised bus network and the Merseyrail concession.

Reporting into the Bus Operations Manager and supporting the Rail Operations Manager, you will in the interim, work within the Franchising team to provide strategic direction and influence best practice surrounding the development and implementation of our new Contract Management System. You will then lead the contract management team in the implementation of the new system and all associated training and development of staff.

You’ll be responsible for:

  • •Ensuring the contract management system for the effective contractual management of our bus and rail operators is highly developed and effectively utilised to enable the embedding of our operator performance regimes.
  • •Supporting the organisation and leaders through change and transformation by providing expert strategic advice and ensuring change management processes are carefully, planned, communicated, executed, and evaluated.
  • •Act as an Enabler to the Bus Operations Manager and the Rail Operations Manager together with the Head of Network Performance to be able to hold operators to account for contractual performance issues and ensure that payments and contractual elements of franchising are accurate and timely.

About the person

The ideal candidate will a relevant degree or equivalent qualifications together with experience of contract management ideally gained in within the private sector.

  • •Extensive experience of public service delivery at a management level, supported by technical practical experience from the Transport sector.

  • •A relevant degree, transport qualification or equivalent professional attainment/membership – to demonstrate sufficient knowledge and professionalism to supervise a multi-disciplinary Transport team

  • •Track record of developing and implementing ICT solutions to optimise service efficiency. (i.e., creation of management systems).
