Community Wellbeing Worker
Working Hours: 22
Interview Date: 20th October 2026
Do you enjoy helping babies and children get the best start in life? Are you confident working with parents and carers to build on their strengths and support their children’s development?
We are looking for a Community and Wellbeing Worker to join Living Well Rutland. For this vacancy, we are particularly interested in applicants with Early Years experience who can develop trusting relationships with families and deliver welcoming, practical support through our Family Hub and community settings.
About the Role
As a Community & Wellbeing Worker you will play a key role in delivering Rutland’s Best Start in Life offer. You will work with parents, carers and children through group sessions, one-to-one support and community activities. You will help families access information and support early, respond to their needs and work with colleagues and partners to improve outcomes for children and families.
Your work will include:
- Planning and delivering engaging activities that support children’s development and family wellbeing
- Supporting parents and carers through group work and individual conversations, including families who may need additional help
- Coordinating and delivering a range of early and focused support through groupwork and 1:1 interventions.
- Listening to families and adapting activities so they are inclusive and accessible.
- Working with health, education, voluntary sector and other partners to connect families with the right support.
- Reviewing activities and recording outcomes so we understand what difference our work makes.
Additional Requirements
The successful candidate will be required to undertake an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Costs for the DBS are covered by Rutland County Council.
Please note that you will need a full driving licence to enable you to travel across the county.
About You
You will bring experience of working directly with babies, young children and families, and an understanding of early childhood development and the challenges families may face. You will be comfortable building relationships, leading groups and offering sensitive, practical support.
To succeed in this role, you will need:
- A relevant Level 3 qualification in Early Years, education, health, youth work or social care, or equivalent proven work experience
- Experience of planning and delivering activities or support that respond to children’s and families’ needs
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to both collaborate and work independently
- Experience in leading or supporting projects in partnership with local organisations or community groups
- A commitment to safeguarding, inclusion and helping families shape the services they use
- A commitment to promoting diversity, inclusion, and positive behavioural change
